Hello everyone, I noticed a lot of questions because I don't receive emails in my account and I decided to create a help guide!!

Not receiving important emails can be frustrating. Usually, the cause is simple to resolve. Follow this step-by-step guide to diagnose and fix the problem, with direct links to Google's tools and help articles.

Step 1: Essential & Immediate Checks

1. Check Your Spam or Junk Folder The most common reason for a "missing" email is that it was filtered as spam.

  • How to do it: In the left-hand menu of your Gmail, look for the "Spam" folder.

  • Action: If you find the email, select it and click the "Not spam" button at the top of the page.

2. Check Your Trash or "Deleted Items" Folder You might have accidentally deleted the message.

  • How to do it: Look for the "Trash" folder in the left-hand menu.

  • Action: If the email is there, move it back to your inbox.

3. Check the "Promotions," "Social," and "Updates" Tabs Gmail automatically categorizes emails. Messages from stores, social networks, or newsletters might not appear in your primary inbox.

  • How to do it: Click the other tabs at the top of your inbox.

  • Action: If you find the email, you can drag and drop it into the "Primary" tab. This will help Gmail learn to send future messages from that sender there.

4. Confirm the Sender Used the Correct Email Address A simple typo is a very common cause. Contact the sender through another method (phone, SMS, etc.) and ask them to confirm your email address.

Step 2: Checks in Your Google/Gmail Account Configuration

1. Check Your Account Storage If your Google account is full, new emails won't be delivered. Storage is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.

  • How to do it: To see your current storage usage, visit: Google One Storage Manager.

  • Action: If you are near the limit, delete old and large files or emails and empty your trash to free up space.

2. Review Your Email Filters A rule you created in the past might be automatically archiving or deleting the emails you're expecting.

  • How to do it: Follow Google's instructions to Create, edit, or delete filters.

  • Action: Go to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" section in your Gmail settings and review the list. Delete any suspicious filters.

3. Check Your Blocked Senders List You might have blocked the sender by accident.

  • How to do it: On the same "Filters and Blocked Addresses" screen, check the list of blocked accounts.

  • Action: If you find the sender's address in the list, select it and click "Unblock". See the official steps here.

4. Check Your Forwarding Settings

  • How to do it: In Gmail settings, go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.

  • Action: Check if automatic forwarding is enabled. If it is, ensure that the option to "keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox" is selected, or disable forwarding if you no longer need it. See Google's guide on automatic forwarding.

Step 3: Connectivity and Service Status Checks

1. Check the Status of Google's Services Gmail might be experiencing a temporary outage.

  • How to do it: Visit the official Google Workspace status panel: Google Workspace Status Dashboard.

  • Action: If there is an orange or red dot next to Gmail, it means there's a known issue. The only solution is to wait for Google's team to fix it.

2. Use the Gmail Troubleshooter Tool Google offers an interactive tool that guides you through solving the most common issues with missing emails.

Step 4: Advanced Solutions (For Custom Domains with Google Workspace)

This applies if you use a custom domain email (e.g., contact@yourcompany.com) through Google Workspace.

1. Check Your MX (Mail Exchange) Records MX records are essential for telling the internet to deliver your domain's emails to Google's servers.

  • How to do it: Use an online tool like MXToolbox to check your domain.

  • Action: If the records are incorrect, you'll need to fix them in your domain provider's control panel. Refer to Google's official guide for the correct Google Workspace MX record values.
